Suzanna Turpin—Violin

Suzanna Turpin made her OKC PHIL debut in the fall of 2005 as a substitute violinist, however, 2009-2010 season will be her third season as a full-contract violinist.

From birth Turpin was surrounded by violin music and wanted to follow in her older sister’s footsteps, so at the age of three she began violin lessons.

Her greatest musical influences came from the recordings of great violin masters such as Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, and David Oistrakh. Her most inspiring composers are Sergei Prokofiev and Johannes Brahms.

Aside from the OKC PHIL, Turpin has also played with the Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, UT and occasionally with the Fort Smith Symphony in Arkansas. But she loves coming back to the OKC PHIL each year to play the great symphonies from Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Beethoven, and others.

Turpin holds a masters in violin performance and also gives private violin lessons.

Outside of the music world, Turpin has an adorable baby boy, has lived in eight states (one in every continental time zone), and has visited nine European countries.
