Be the Orchestra



Adults

Beginning adult violin, viola, cello and bass courses. No prior experience necessary. Beginning Course held in the fall, Intermediate Course held in the spring.
Concert Preview      



Adults Classics Series pre-concert lectures presented by local musicians and educators offering insights and anecdotes on the concert programming.
Discovery Concerts 



Kids & Families Series of three affordable, hour long family concerts accompanied by educational and entertaining pre-concert activities. Presented on Sunday afternoons.

Kids & Families A hands-on collection of select orchestral instruments for children to “play” presented at various arts and public venues.
Let's Talk About Music    



Community A Lecture/Demo where Philharmonic musicians play and talk about music, musical instruments and life as a musician during interactive performances at various libraries and venues in the metro area.
Master Classes with the Guest Artists



HS & College students/Community Pairs promising music majors with Philharmonic guest artists in private lessons before a public audience.  
Musical Stories 




Community Originating from a partnership with The Children's Center in Bethany to expose medically fragile patients ages birth to 18 to new musical experiences, this program is also presented in public libraries and venues. Musical Stories consists of narrated stories accompanied by the string quartet Strings in Stereo.

HS & College students

Six statewide competitions for student musicians and ensembles. Participants compete for scholarships and a chance to play in a winner’s recital.

HS & College Students/ Community The Music Services Guide catalogues contacts for music instruction and area businesses that rent and sell new and used instruments.
Musician's Continuing Education Grant


OKC Philharmonic Musicians Available to Philharmonic musicians and designed to support musicians in their continued musical development.
Open Rehearsals



Schools Select Philharmonic rehearsals are open and available to students and teachers by reservation only.
Teacher Appreciation Night



Adults The Thursday evening performance of The Christmas Show serves as Teacher Appreciation Night, as we offer discounted tickets to teacher who participate in our education programs.
Side-by-Side Concert




HS & College students/ Community Young musicians from the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra (OYO) rehearse and perform “side-by-side” with professional Philharmonic musicians for a concert performed in the spring.
Society of Strings (S.O.S.)



Adults Adult orchestra formed by members that participated in “Be the Orchestra.” Year round.
Sound Images





Schools A provided curriculum for 3rd through 8th grade that introduces and compares music and visual arts terms, culminating with participating students creating artwork inspired by orchestral music for competition and display.

We've Got Rhythm




Schools An intro to the orchestra suggested for 3rd graders presented in a 3-part, in-school presentation by Orchestra League docents and Philharmonic musicians and ensembles in preparation for attending a Youth Concert.
Youth Concerts


Schools Live Philharmonic performances designed to showcase the orchestra and different musical families presented free and suggested for 3rd through 5th grade and beginning band and orchestra students at the Civic Center
