Marat Gabdullin—Violin
Marat Gabdullin joined the Oklahoma City Philharmonic during the 2007-2008 season and has been playing the violin since the age of five in his native Russia.
Gabdullin cites Jascha Heifetz, David Oistrach and Maxim Vengerov as his favorite violin players and Bach, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich as his favorite composers.
He is also a very accomplished violinist having played with several orchestras in Russia including the Ufa National Symphonic Orchestra, Ufa Opera & Ballet Symphonic Orchestra, Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra, Kazan National Symphony, and the Kazan “La Primavera” Chamber Orchestra. While in the US, he has played with the Enid Symphony Orchestra and Oklahoma Community Orchestra in addition to the OKC Philharmonic. Each season in the States with the OKC PHIL, though, he looks forward to the amazing soloists and having the opportunity to play more Russian music.
Gabdullin has degrees in Violin Solo Performance, Teaching, and Orchestra Playing. While he was living in Russia, he used to conduct, teach, and play electro violin in an art-rock band complete with a D.J. as he is a big fan of heavy metal. Here in Oklahoma, he sticks to his studies but sometimes like to volunteer in his neighborhood.
