Julie Dodge—Viola

Julie Dodge made her debut with the OKC PHIL when she was only 19 years old and has been playing the viola for 20 plus years now. For this inspiration, she thanks her sisters, as twin sister, Laura, chose to play the violin, and older sister, Ann, chose the cello. Julie felt as though she should finish the trio with the viola.

Dodge especially enjoys  music of Beethoven but cites her greatest musical influence was her teacher, Wayne Crouse, who shaped her love and approach to playing the viola by adding confidence, perseverance, and joy.

Dodge holds Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music in Viola Performance degrees and was previously a member of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic; however, she always looks forward to making beautiful music here, at the OKC PHIL, and seeing her dear friends at each rehearsal.

Not only a musical family but also an international one, Dodge traveled to the Netherlands to earn her Master’s Degree at the Masstricht Conservatorium.  Her twin sister, Laura Young, is a violinist with the OKC PHIL, and her older sister, Ann Wilson, was a cellist with the OKC PHIL, but has since moved to Belgium.
