Douglas Droste—Violin
Douglas Droste has been with the OKC PHIL since moving to Oklahoma in the fall of 2004, however he’s been playing the violin since he was in kindergarten.
Droste’s favorite composers are Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Repighi and Droste names his mother and father as his greatest musical influences. His father is a former director of the Ohio State University Marching Band and The Brass Band of Columbus and his mother is a former public school and church choir director. As both parents were teachers, they saw the benefit of taking their son to a Suzuki Method class that quickly hooked him to the violin. Droste’s multiple talents also include playing the trumpet.
In addition to the OKC PHIL, Droste has also played with the Nashville, Memphis, Tulsa, and Lubbock orchestras, but always loves returning to the Classics Series concerts and "big-name" guest soloists of the OKC PHIL.
Droste holds an undergraduate degree in music education from Ohio State and a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from Texas Tech. He is currently the Director of Orchestral Studies at Oklahoma State University.
Droste is an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan.
