Classical Program Notes

Read Our Program Notes Online
The OKC Philharmonic relies on the scholarship and wit of James Keller, annotator for the New York Philharmonic, for notes on the classical music programs. These notes are published in our concert program and are also available online for advance reading. Browse the virtual library of program notes for the concerts of the 2008-2009 season. Notes for the upcoming season will be posted in the fall.

Concert Previews

Ticket holders enjoy a free presentation before each Classics concert by a music specialist. Held in the Thelma Gaylord Concert Hall of the Civic Center from 7:00 to 7:30 pm, the Concert Previews offer interesting insights into the evening's concert.

Master Classes with the Guest Artists

Talented University music majors are paired with guest artists of the Philharmonic in a lesson before an audience. The public is invited to these free events. More information located in the "Young Musicians" tab.

Program Notes on CD

Audio program notes are provided to season ticket holders for the Classics concerts at no charge. Notes include music excerpts and a discussion of most of the upcoming repertory.
